We are headquartered in Bengaluru-the epicentre of India's innovation economy-and we bring to every engagement the dual qualities that define our practice: intellectual rigour and commercial sophistication earned and honed across hundreds of high-stakes transactions across industries and geographies.
Amrut Joshi founded GLA in 2011 with a clear vision: build a firm that pairs elite legal training with a genuine commitment to transformative impact. In 2019, Senior Partner Samheeta Rao joined GLA and brought rare depth to the partnership, based on her varied experience while co-heading the legal team at Goldman Sachs' Bengaluru office, and from her earliest days at the Bengaluru office of Amarchand Mangaldas.
Over the years, a talented group of lawyers has helped shape GLA into what it is today. Former partners now head legal functions at multinational corporations, and many of our alumni have gone on to join India's leading law firms—a reflection of the calibre and culture the firm has cultivated.
Under Amrut and Samheeta's continued leadership, GLA has grown into one of India's most distinctive legal practices — advising on more than 200 transactions and building lasting relationships with some of the country's most respected investors, entrepreneurs, and institutions.
